Hudson the Tank

November 29, 2012

My guy is kind of a stud. He's kind of a big deal. And he's kind of huge... no seriously :)

Hudson Dec 1-1
At his two month check up he was 14lbs 14oz and 24 inches long (that's 90th and 80th%)

Oh, I could just eat him (and all those delicious rolls and yummy cheeks) up!

Baby Boy - 2 Months Old

November 27, 2012

I know I'm skipping forward and missing a ton of posts in between but I don't want to forget any of the fun little things that my little guy is doing now so I am going to hop forward to the present and come back and back-date everything that I missed. So make sure you scroll down below this post to see all of the in-betweens that we missed (does that make sense?).

Hudson Boy is two months old.
IMG_1569 copy
He is an amazing little boy. He is content and loves his mommy.
(That's my favorite.)
We call him Hudson, Hudsey, Huddy Buddy
(his biggest sister gave him that name)
Baby Brother, and Little Guy.

He smiles and coos all the time.
His sisters love trying to make him smile.
(and sometimes they fight over who gets to make him smile, and that's kind of counterproductive...)
When he looks at me and smiles it makes me melt.
My favorite is when I peek over into his bassinet in the morning and he looks up at me with a big squinty smile.
He only wakes up a couple times a night. I actually don't mind it because it just means I get extra cuddles.
Plus, my rocking chair is super comfy.
He has the cutest, most perfect cabbage patch belly button.
And his rolls go on and on for days.
He kicks his little legs in the cutest, little soccer player way.
And he gets really excited when he hears me walk into the room.
(Seriously, being the mom is the best.)
He loves to hear me sing and sings right along with me.
I can't even put into words how much I love this little guy.
He makes my heart full, and he makes our home so happy.

He's our little Hudson Boy and he's already growing up way too fast.

Papa T Came to Visit

October 26, 2012

My dad came out for a visit and to officially meet his grandson. He's such a proud Grandpa and it's so fun to watch. My dad may try to act all tough with his Harley sweatshirt and handlebar mustache, but inside he's really a big softie, especially when it comes to his grandbabies (sorry, Dad, your secret's out).
PapaT-02
The girls adore their Papa T. He's the best at horse bites and the claw and they especially loves when he throws them on the couch. Hudson will soon learn how cool his papa is too :)
PapaT 07-1
We had such a great time having him here and he was such a good sport, following along while we did our typical day-to-day errands, like preschool and shopping and everything else we do. I even got him to come along to the fabric store (it's amazing what sort of leverage cute babies can give you). We ate lots of yummy foods, had some of my dad's famous bbq tri-tip (seriously, it's amazing), watched the Giants make it to the World Series, and really just hung out and played for the rest of the time he was here.
PapaT-05
It was such a great week! We had so much fun. We love you Papa, T! Come back soon!

My Mom...

October 19, 2012

My mom is kind of amazing. I don't mean to brag at all but she is the best mom a girl could ask for. She spent the last (almost) three weeks taking care of me and my family while putting her life back home on hold. She would give me the world if I asked for it and she would do the same for my babies too. She made me who I am today and I couldn't be more grateful for her. She is an example of love and generosity and forgiveness and faith. She's my favorite mom in the whole wide world and I'm her favorite daughter :)

Thank you, mom, for everything you do for us. We miss you already.

and sometimes we take pictures of our cute shoes just because they are cute.

Hudson's Blessing Day

October 15, 2012

Hudson was given a name and a blessing in our home on Sunday, October 14th, 2012.
Hudson Blessing-37
He wore the sweetest pure white outfit that Daddy called his ninja suit.
Hudson Blessing-34
He was wrapped in the same cuddly, white blanket that his sisters wore when they were blessed.
Hudson Blessing-36
His Great-Grandma Kirby made it with love.
Hudson Blessing-35
[Hi-ya!]
Hudson Blessing-38
He was blessed that he would be a light to others around him.
Hudson Blessing-22
He would grow to be strong and healthy.
Hudson Blessing-33
He would be surrounded by a family who loves him dearly.
Hudson Blessing-23
He was so so lucky to have so much family come down for the special event. Grandpa Don and Aunt Katie, Great Grandpa Kirby, Bapo and Mimi, Grandma Linda and Grandpa Terry, and then of course his mommy, daddy and big sisters.
Hudson Blessing-6
He was so excited to have so many visitors and was a complete angel the whole time.
Hudson Blessing-41
Four Generations of Kirby men stood in the circle.
Hudson Blessing-7
Hudson Blessing-39
Daddy was especially excited to have Great Grandpa Kirby there. Hudson was named after his grandpas; they all share the middle name, Edward.
Hudson Blessing-42
Daddy seemed especially proud to be able to bless his son. Mommy was proud too.
Hudson Blessing-40
When the blessing was finished and we all said Amen, Hudson was quietly staring at his Great Grandpa. It was a sweet moment.
Hudson Blessing-4
Hudson Blessing-5
“Every member of the church of Christ having children is to bring them unto the elders before the church, who are to lay their hands upon them in the name of Jesus Christ, and bless them in his name” (D&C 20:70).

We celebrated with a nice lunch of sandwiches & salads and enjoyed some good company. It was a great day in the Kirby home.

Life with 3

October 11, 2012

I have three kids. Three.

babies20x24c
I remember, when I was younger, thinking that people with three kids had to be sooo old. And now, I'm one of those people, only I don't feel old :) Three has been a bit of an adjustment, but like I've mentioned before, it hasn't been so bad because we've had family around to help us out. The girls are craving a little more attention from me, but understandably since I haven't seen them much with the sick buggies that they had been carrying around the house with them. Thankfully, those are finally gone and it feels like we can start being a real family of five and do things together, like sit in the same room (Dang flu bug!) It's been fun.

Our toughest challenge has probably been bedtime with three kids. I take care of putting Hudson to sleep and Mike (bless his heart) has the job of getting the two crazies, I mean princesses, to relax long enough to maybe fall asleep. We used to be able to tag team it and do pretty well with little girls staying in their beds and closing their eyes, you know, the usual bedtime stuff, but now it's just plain old craziness. I think Emily spends more time at the top of the stairs than she does in her bed :) I've even gone as far as to just make her a bed at the top of the stairs to see if that would work. We'll get our groove back though... right?

The girls absolutely adore their little brother. They got to hold him for the first time this week (aside from their meeting him and getting a short cuddle in the hospital right after he was born). Both of them were ecstatic when it was finally their turn. Kylie looked so old and like such a good big sister. I think she's going to be the one to protect her little guy. And Emily looked so grown up and like such a big girl but so small at the same time :) I guess that's what you can expect when you have a tiny girl and a giant baby though. We are convinced that at some point in the not-so-far future, Hudson is going to pass up his little-big sister in size. The funny thing is, Kylie will only hold him for about a minute at a time and then complain that he is too heavy, but Emily would hold him all day if we'd let her. She loves that little boy and it is the sweetest thing to see.

We also took the Hudson in for his two week check up and he is growing great and looks healthy as can be. (And can I just add, I cannot believe that he is already two weeks old!) He is up to 9 1/2 lbs which makes me happy. It always feels good to have big healthy, chubby babies and I'm sure he will be just that. It was weird to hear the nurses call us back for his appointment, when you hear someone else say your sons name it makes it feel a little more official I guess, and not just like you're living your own little dream.

Lastly, that photo up there is officially the most perfect photo ever taken in the history of the world and it will be blown up on canvas for my house (and no, I am not biased in the least). I look at it every single day and just melt over my three perfect little babies. I cannot believe how blessed I am. It is a truly wonderful gift to be the mother of these three little angels. They bring me so much joy and I am so glad they are mine.

Happy Due Date

October 1, 2012

Today is my due date. It's funny that for so long you look forward to this date and then once baby comes it doesn't seem to mean quite as much (but I think it will always hold a special place). I'm so glad we've gotten to enjoy our little guy for an extra six days. They have been the most wonderful 6 days and he is the most wonderful little guy.

The First Bath

September 30, 2012

I don't really know why we take pictures of our children's first baths but I felt like I should, so I did... (Do other people do this too? Or am I just a little crazy with how many pictures I take of my kids?)  Hudson is our chill little guy. He hardly ever makes a peep, the most noise I've really ever heard him make was tonight during his first at-home sponge bath. He was not much of a fan of lying on a towel and getting wiped down with a wet washcloth (I wouldn't be either...). But as soon as we got him wrapped back up and Mike massaged some shampoo into his hair, boy was he in heaven.

Mike said that's how his first bath in the hospital was too. He whined a little while the nurse washed his little body but as soon as she moved on to the scalp massage he was a happy camper.

4 Days

It felt so so good to bring our baby boy home and has been so great enjoying him here. The girls have done wonderfully so far, well given the circumstances... We have quite the little sick bug running around our house right now so Hudson and I are pretty much quarantined to our bedroom so he doesn't catch it. It's horrible because they keep asking if they can hold him or give him kisses and I have to keep saying no, not until the sick buggies go away... But, even though they can't hold him or really be near him yet, they are both still so excited about their new baby brother.
HUDSON-DAY-3
I'm excited about him too :) He is such a good baby. The first couple nights were spent holding him, partly because I didn't want to let him go, and the other part because he just wanted to nurse (so I didn't get any real sleep) but since the milk fairies paid us a visit he has slept great (well, for a newborn at least).
IMG_0111web
Everyone keeps asking how the transition from 2-3 really is. I don't think our case is all too typical because we have my mom and Mike's mom here right now to ease the transition, and it's only been a few days, but so far it's been really great. Like I said though, the girls have been sick so I've been taking care of one child while Mike and the Grandma's take care of the girls. As soon as they get better and everyone leaves though, ask me again... I'm sure my answer will be different :)

(Also, obviously my blogging has suffered since this little guy came, but I promise I've still been taking lots of pictures, I just haven't found time to post anything. But I do instagram just about everyday so if you are dying for a baby fix you can follow mw on there: Kirbymama)
