Christmas 2009

December 29, 2009

We had such a fantastic Christmas! The only thing we would've changed is that we wish we would have flown out to see our family. But it was fun to try our own Christmas, just the three of us (afterall it was the last Christmas just the three of us :). Mike and I were so excited when we put Ky to bed on Christmas eve and got to be Santa's helpers. It's weird to think we are the parents now and we get to sneak around helping Santa! We were all totally spoiled this year too, especially Miss Ky!

Some of the aftermath. I wish I would've gotten some before and during pics but we were too excited about videotaping and we completely neglected the camera...

Tickling her new baby doll. Kylie loves to tickle everyone and anything!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree..

A surprise gift I made for Mike. He loved it!

Loving her new toys on Christmas night.

A couple days after Christmas we were playing with Kylie's toys in the living room. She decided she wanted to get in the storage ottoman that we keep her stuffed animals in. She just played in there for a good half hour and loved every minute of it.

She loves her butterfly rocker!

Grandma just found out!

December 25, 2009

Here is the best video in the world of my mom finding out that Kylie is going to be a big sister. The picture that we surprised her with is the one of Kylie in her "Cutest Big Sister Ever" shirt. Her reaction is priceless! I think she was a little excited....

Baby, It's Cold Outside...

December 15, 2009

I will be the first person to admit it... I am not a winter person! Not in the least! I was born and raised a California girl. I saw snow maybe 10 times in my entire life up until I moved out to New Hampshire and then Idaho and my idea of a winter low was somewhere in the low 40s... burrrrrrrr! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love to watch snow gracefully falling to the ground and sitting by the fire wrapped up in a Snuggie while sipping hot chocolate and listening to Christmas music but that is all done inside where it is nice and warm. For the last week or so it has been stinking cold here in Arkansas. We haven't had snow and it hasn't gotten down below 28 degrees but still, it is way to cold for me. So Kylie and I have been just hanging out inside where its toasty, only opening the door for the UPS man delivering Christmas presents. This awful truth about my lack of cold-tolerance makes me question why I am so excited to move back to Utah, the snow capital of the country!

Enough of my rambling, here is a picture of my Ky. Isn't she just gorgeous?!?! I love her new little smirks that she gives me in pictures~

Brusha Brusha Brusha

December 1, 2009

Kylie's favorite part of bedtime is brushing her teeth. She points to her teeth, goes running for the bathroom and insists "up, up, up" as soon as we utter the those 8 simple words, "Are you ready to go brush your teeth?"

Pigtails and Pudding

November 22, 2009

I love Kylie's hair in PIGTAILS!!!! I know there's not much there, but there is finally enough for two seperate ponies. Tonight, Kylie and Mommy played beauty parlor and then Daddy and Kylie shared a big bowl of chocolate pudding. And we learned that Kylie loves chocolate pudding. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of Kylie begging for more, or doing her crazy happy dance because of the sugar rush (note to self, try sugar-free next time), but I did get one picture where you can see a tiny streak of pudding on her upper lip if you look closely... We had a great Sunday night tonight. I love my family!

Family Pictures

For the last year, just about ever family picture we have was taken by a tripod. Needless to say we were pretty excited when we had the opportunity to have a real photographer take our pictures this year. We are doing a little trade of services for our family photos this year and next weekend I will be heading out to return the favor. We think they turned out super cute considering the mucky, rainy, 42 degree weather. Kylie was still eating it up. I have never seen a one year old do so well during family pictures! And now I am so happy to have them all hanging on our walls!

Getting All Gussied Up!

So, we had planned on doing our family pictures on a Friday afternoon, but because of a small miscommunication we ended up pushing them back to the following Monday. Still, on Friday afternoon, Kylie and I got all gussied up for our photo shoot and practiced our smiles. I wanted to see how our outfits and colors would photograph, so we went out in the front yard and I just followed Kylie around for almost an hour. She loves playing in the front yard. Oh, and she insisted on wearing Mommy's necklace. I thought she looked too cute!

Halloween 2009

November 1, 2009

We had such a fun Halloween this year!!! Grandma Sherri and Grandpa Andy came all the way down from New Hampshire to spend the weekend with us. We have been having so much fun since they've been here. We went to a Trunk-or-Treat at our church and ended up winning the costume contest! We all went as characters from the Wizard of Oz. Kylie was Dorothy, I was the Lion, Mike was the Tinman, Andy the Scarecrow and my mom was Glenda the Good Witch of the North. Our costumes were definitely a hit! And we had so much fun parading around the parking lot in them! I think Kylie's favorite part of the whole day was collecting candy. You'll notice, in every single picture she has her candy clutched tightly in her hands.

The whole gang!

I got candy, Mom!!!

Glenda and Dorothy

Her hair cracks me up in this picture. No matter how long it gets, I don't think it will ever lay down.

Getting one last shot with Kylie in her Dorothy wig

Later we took Kylie trick-or-treating to a couple houses in our neighborhood. She had a great time as long as Mommy was carrying her. By the time we got back to the house, she was ready for a bath and bed. Actually, we all were...

She looked so stinking cute!

Trick or Treat!?!

Are we done yet?

Happy Halloween!

It's my Hat...

Kylie found this hat in our closet about a month ago and now it is her favorite accessory. She puts it on all by herself and walks around the house in it all the time. She wont keep her headbands on for more than three minutes but give her her hat and she'll wear it all day!

It's the Great Pumpkin...

October 27, 2009

So every year I like to go all out when carving my pumpkins. One year I did a portrait of myself and my three college roommates. The next year I did a portrait of the prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley. Then I carved my wonderful husband and I (and ended up winning 50 bucks for that one... :) So this year, Mike was in charge of a youth activity for our church and they were doing pumpkin carving. He wanted me to come along and demonstrate a different way to carve a pumpkin. So I whipped up this little puppy of our baby Ky for the activity. I wanted to do one of each of us before Halloween but, frankly, I just don't have the time and I really don't feel like cleaning up pumpkin guts again...

Right now our pumpkin is sitting in our fridge, where it's been for the last 6 days... I am hoping that, by some miracle, it will make it to Saturday so I can put it on the front porch in time for trick-or-treaters.

"I'm ready for my close-up..."

October 21, 2009

So, yesterday I had a photo session at our home for a beautiful newborn baby girl. When we were all finished and before I could get my equipment all put away Kylie decided it was her turn for some photographic attention. She walked right into the backdrops, sat down and posed right in front of the lights. I think we may have created a little bit of a diva in this little one... She's a funny, funny girl!

2nd Halloween, 1st Pumpkin Patch

October 19, 2009

We took Kylie to the Pumpkin Patch last Friday night and we had so much fun! The whole drive home Mike and I couldn't stop talking about how much fun we had. Kylie especially had a great time! Her Auntie Jenni taught her all about patting watermelons to see which ones are good melons last time she was here and Kylie put that melon patting theory to the test on just about every pumpkin in the patch. She loved patting those pumpkins! Mike and I were your typical "proud-parents-of-their-only-daughter-enjoying-her-first-time-at-the-pumpkin-patch" parents. I had my camera out the whole time taking pictures of Kylie while Mike had the video camera, filming the whole thing. We couldn't help but laugh at ourselves when we realized how silly we must've looked following around this one-year-old while she patted every pumpkin in the patch. It was such a fun time!

The look one her face when she saw all of the pumpkins in the pumpkin store that needed patting... priceless
