2nd Birthday Party

August 31, 2010

We threw Kylie a big "My Friends Tigger and Pooh" birthday party to celebrate her turning 2 years old! It was a ton of fun and so much work, but she loved her "Think Think Think" Party!

We decked out the backyard with streamers, balloons, and cardboard cutouts of trees. We had lots of 100 Acre Wood sweet treats including: Piglet's Haycorns, Kanga's Krispies, Lumperdoodles, Fresh Fruits and Veggies from Rabbits Garden, Lemon Soup and cupcakes. Each of the kids also had their very own "Super Sleuth" badge and eye mask to wear, and Kylie got her very own Super Sleuth hat. We played games, colored pictures and shook the lemons out of a lemon tree ("Shakedy shake, shake the tree...") Kylie loved her party, and that was the most important thing.

At the end of the night, when we were getting ready for bed, I asked Ky if she liked her Happy Party and she said yes and then said, "mmm hmmm, Mama" which is Kylie talk for "thank you, Mama." It melted my heart and made all of the hard work completely worth it.

We only had to sing "Happy Birthday" twice this time :)
I was pretty excited about the way her cupcakes turned out.
Emie just chilled with Dad the whole time.

Out of about 10 tries, this was the best group pic we got before everyone headed home. The others included blurry children running out of focus. I guess that's what you get when it's just about bedtime for a bunch of two year olds.
"Gotta slap my cap!" The birthday girl, in her Darby-look-alike outfit, with all her 100 Acre Wood friends!

And here's the invitation:

Tiny Dancer

August 28, 2010

Big Sister started ballet/tap classes last Tuesday. She LOVES dance class! They get to dance around like princesses during the ballet portion of the class and then march around with instruments during tap class. It's so fun to watch her having so much fun! Whenever class is over and it's time to go, she asks for "dance, more?" My goodness, is she adorable or what?!?

Oh, and P.S. that night, big Sister also said the blessing at dinner time for the very first time (with a little help from Mommy). It was the sweetest, most precious thing ever! And ever since, when we ask her who's turn for prayer, she says, "Ky Ky!"

Kylie's 2 yr Photos

August 24, 2010

So, when I was thinking about how I wanted to do Ky's 2 yr shoot I had originally pictured her a field of tall grass with some pink balloons or hot pink gerbera daisies. Well, it just so happened that the day we planned out going to do her pictures was on a Sunday and we didn't have either of those props and since we don't like to go shopping on Sundays, I had to think of a plan B. I liked this plan a whole lot better. We took Kylie out to an empty field with her blanket and pillows from her new "Big Girl Bed" and a picnic basket with all of her favorite babies inside. I love how personal these pictures are and they completely tell the story of Kylie at 2 years old. And Kylie LOVED having her "nigh nigh" and pillows out in the field. She thought it was pretty darn fun and that made my job a lot easier. We didn't even have to bribe her once :)

Here's our beautiful little two year old, Kylie Elizabeth:

Dancing Bears

I've decided that our bassinet is fantastic. It had the best mobile in the world and both of my girls have loved it. Emily has recently become mesmerized by these dancing bears, their lights and the vibration from the bassinet.

It's been so fun seeing the differences in the personalities of our two girls, even at this young age. Emily is so much more contemplative and quiet than Kylie was. She loves to sit and study her surroundings. She is always so sweet and peaceful and she still hardly ever cries. She has such a wonderful little smile. It lights up her entire face and brightens my heart! Is there anything better than a baby's smile? I submit that there is not!
