Our Bags Are (almost) Packed

April 28, 2012

We're just about ready to go! Off to Disneyland! See you all with lots of photos when we return!
Minnie Mouse Applique Disneyland Shirts
I caught the crafty bug and made a few shirts for our trip. You know how embarrassing it is when you show up to a party wearing the same thing as something else, right? We couldn't run that risk :) Here is a little peak of the girlies' Minnie Mouse appliqued shirts. I love how they turned out! I'm sure you'll see plenty more of these and the other cute shirts when we get back!

We're Going to Disneyland!!!

April 27, 2012

We've been planning this trip to Disneyland for months now. It's always been in our heads that we wanted to take the girls when they were about four and two and the timing just happened to be right so we are finally doing it. We are so excited! Mimi, Titi, and Bapo are meeting us in LA and we are going to spend three days in the park and then a day lounging at the beach. The girls are going to freak out! That is what I am most excited about! They both love the disney princesses (well any princess for that matter) and the fairies. I can't wait to see their faces!

We are leaving tomorrow to start our drive out to LA. We'll stop in Vegas for the night just to break up the long drive and then pick up the others at the airport on our way in on Sunday. (I guess I'm a little excited to see them too :) It's going to be quite the trip, but so worth it. I can't wait! Have I mentioned that?!

To celebrate our one week countdown to Disneyland (last week), we took the girls out to a local orchard where they ran around in their new princess dresses. They loved dancing in the grass, singing princess songs, picking dandelions, and smelling the blossoms. So here are some of my absolute favorite pictures of our little princesses, all ready for Disneyland.

My Birthday According to Instagram

April 14, 2012

Well, I turned the big 2-7 this year. If you know me at all you know that I make a huge deal out of my birthday. I am sure to tell everyone I see that it is my special day and I pretty much expect to have the world bow down to me on that day. No, seriously, just ask Mike :) I was spoiled (just like I wanted to be) this year.

I woke up to the perfect breakfast. My absolute favorite belgium waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. Oh heavens, such a delicious way to start your day! Emily really enjoyed the whipped cream too.

I spent the day with my two favorite girls while Mikey was at school. When he got home he surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers and date night. We dropped the girls off at a friend's house and went out to a real sit-down restaurant :) La Jolla Groves in Orem, if you haven't been there, you need to go. The food was so great (get the salmon!), the atmosphere was unreal, and the prices weren't too high at all (surprisingly). By the way, those are lemon trees inside the restaurant (fake, but still, so pretty). Dinner was perfect and then we just walked around until it was time to pick up the girlies.

We had cheesecake waiting for us at home and it was oh so yummy. Everyone sang me the famous birthday song as I reveled in my last few hours as the birthday girl and enjoyed that yummy cake.

It was the perfect birthday spent with my favorite people. Now, only 364 days until my next one :)

Easter 2012

April 12, 2012

The girls woke up to baskets of treats and toys on Easter morning. We took a little time to enjoy the fun tradition, watched the girls stuff their faces with rice crispy eggs and candy for breakfast, and then rushed to get to church on time. (We were late, as always :)

Kylie got to sing in church with the rest of the primary for the first time on Easter Sunday. We were all so excited and practiced her song in the car over and over for weeks leading up to the little performance. When it was the primary's turn the Bishop invited all of the children to come up to the front and Kylie bolted out of her seat until she got to the last pew before the front. She froze and wouldn't go up. Mike ended up standing up there with her so that she could sing. He said she barely whispered any of the words (but at least she was up there :) When she got back to her seat she was so upset that she didn't sing loud and kept asking if she could go back up and do it again. Poor girl and that poor stage fright.

After we got home from church we had a little lunch and the girls had a nap. Which gave the bunny just enough time to stop by and hide some eggs. I had full intention of getting a Sunday picture of the girls all dolled up in their Easter best but it just didn't happen. Instead they did their last egg hunt in outfits they picked out themselves :)

And now, that should finally be the end of the Easter posts. Whew, I told you Easter goes on and on when you have kids!

Coloring Eggs

April 11, 2012

The night before Easter we were lucky enough to have some family visitors! Mike's sister and her adorable kids came down from Idaho and stopped in for some yummy dinner and Easter egg coloring. We roasted hotdogs and smores in the backyard and then stayed up late coloring eggs. It was alot of fun and so great to be around family during (or at least the night before) Easter. The girls love their cousins.

Another Easter Egg Hunt

April 10, 2012

We headed over to Pioneer Park next for the Provo City Egg Hunt. It wasn't really a hunt though as the eggs  were literally just thrown all over a roped off piece of grass and when they said go kids just ran out and scooped them up. It was pretty insane. There was a 5 egg limit for every child so the good news was that each of our girls found 5 times more eggs than they did at our last hunt :) Kylie actually went a little crazy during the "hunt," filling her basket with as many as she could see, we ended up putting alot back (even though she claimed she was just getting more for Emily - uh huh, sure you were...) I couldn't even grab her attention (and it was way to crowded) for me to get a picture of her at least picking up an egg.  Daddy was smart and carried little Emily to the very middle where it wasn't crowded yet and straddled a little clump of eggs for her to "find."

It was stinking cold when they first started (hence all the layers under their Easter outfits) but as soon as they yelled "GO!" I think Kylie forgot about her numb fingers :)

The girls were pretty excited about checking out the little prizes inside their eggs. We even got some coupons for free lunch in a couple of them and you know we took advantage of that one :) Also, they were the cutest kids at this egg hunt too :)Pioneer Park Easter 03

Let the Easter Festivities Begin!

April 9, 2012

I've noticed that since having kids, Easter festivities have grown from just an egg hunt on Easter morning to an entire weekend of hunts and activities. This year was especially fun because Kylie knew exactly what to look forward to and Emily was old enough to participate this year too.

We started this year with a cute little egg hunt at the Riverwoods. We got there about two minutes before it all started and each of the girls only ended up finding one egg but they were both so excited about that one egg. And they were the cutest kids there by the way :)
