Beauty Parlor

May 27, 2010

Kylie is one of those few toddlers in the world that actually loves to get her hair done and sits still while Mommy pulls and styles her hair. Some afternoons, we play "beauty parlor" in the living room. Kylie sits on her chair, I sit behind her and she lets me play. And she really does like it as much as I do! A couple days ago we pulled out the foam curlers and gave her pretty little locks some volume. She enjoyed holding the bag of curlers and handing them to me one at a time, I felt like she was such a big girl.

Do these foam rollers bring back memories of your childhood like they do mine?

Mother's Day 2010

May 14, 2010

My Mother's Day was absolutely perfect in every way because I got to spend the day with my two (and a half) favorite people. I woke up to the door squeaking as Kylie pushed her way into our room and then, "Mama?" as she threw her Kitty and Monkey onto my side of the bed. (Ever since she moved to her big girl bed and learned how to open her bedroom door, my favorite part of the day is when Kylie comes in to say good morning.) We got up and ready for church while Mike made me a wonderful breakfast of french toast with strawberries- YUM! Then he spoiled me with chocolates, flowers, and a book by President Uchtdorf that I had mentioned wanting months before. (So thoughtful!) We spent the morning at church and then came home for some lunch and a nice long nap for the whole family! Mike made a fantastic dinner and we spent the rest of the day playing in the backyard. I have the best family in the whole world and feel so blessed to be the mother of such an amazing little girl. Kylie is the light of my life and I am so glad I get to be her Mommy. And I am so happy that another little princess is coming to our family soon! There is nothing better in the world than being able to be a wife and mother!

This is why I love my life!
Playing with Daddy's ring.

Blowing grass whistles with Mommy.
Well, Mommy is blowing and Kylie is just doing a high pitched scream into her hands.
She loves her Na.

Mike took Kylie to the store to pick out a gift just for Mommy this year. She picked out a purple heart balloon and this Winnie the Pooh card- two of her favorite things. It melted my heart!

Garden Boxes

May 8, 2010

This spring, we decided to build garden boxes and start our very own garden in our very own backyard of our very own house. It's fun to be a home-owner, isn't it? Mike was so wonderful to build these for me just the way I wanted them and they turned out cute and just perfect for the space. We planted a few starts and a bunch of seeds and in less than a week we already have some veggies coming up. We are so excited for fresh herbs, veggies, and even fruit this summer!

These little boxes fit perfectly on the side of our house.
Baby Lettuce!!!
I'm pretty excited for our strawberry plants. And the watermelon that is planted right next to it!
We had a little visitor in our garden. Isn't he cute? As Kylie would say "AbBah!" (translation, "Ribbit!")

We're the Best of Friends!

May 6, 2010

I can't believe we haven't blogged about Kylie's absolute best friend. Meet "Na."

She met this cute little buddy on Christmas morning 2009 and they have been inseparable ever since. Na got her name from Kylie. She says that Kitty Cats say "Naaaaaaaaaaaa" (rather than meow) so, naturally, this had to be Kitty's name. She loves giving Na kisses and hugs and they even have their own little language. She gives her kitty special air-kisses by sticking her tongue in and out really fast. We have no clue where it came from but it's really funny and pretty darn cute. I hope they are friends forever, because I love watching them play.
"Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!"
