It's the Great Pumpkin...

October 27, 2009

So every year I like to go all out when carving my pumpkins. One year I did a portrait of myself and my three college roommates. The next year I did a portrait of the prophet, Gordon B. Hinckley. Then I carved my wonderful husband and I (and ended up winning 50 bucks for that one... :) So this year, Mike was in charge of a youth activity for our church and they were doing pumpkin carving. He wanted me to come along and demonstrate a different way to carve a pumpkin. So I whipped up this little puppy of our baby Ky for the activity. I wanted to do one of each of us before Halloween but, frankly, I just don't have the time and I really don't feel like cleaning up pumpkin guts again...

Right now our pumpkin is sitting in our fridge, where it's been for the last 6 days... I am hoping that, by some miracle, it will make it to Saturday so I can put it on the front porch in time for trick-or-treaters.

"I'm ready for my close-up..."

October 21, 2009

So, yesterday I had a photo session at our home for a beautiful newborn baby girl. When we were all finished and before I could get my equipment all put away Kylie decided it was her turn for some photographic attention. She walked right into the backdrops, sat down and posed right in front of the lights. I think we may have created a little bit of a diva in this little one... She's a funny, funny girl!

2nd Halloween, 1st Pumpkin Patch

October 19, 2009

We took Kylie to the Pumpkin Patch last Friday night and we had so much fun! The whole drive home Mike and I couldn't stop talking about how much fun we had. Kylie especially had a great time! Her Auntie Jenni taught her all about patting watermelons to see which ones are good melons last time she was here and Kylie put that melon patting theory to the test on just about every pumpkin in the patch. She loved patting those pumpkins! Mike and I were your typical "proud-parents-of-their-only-daughter-enjoying-her-first-time-at-the-pumpkin-patch" parents. I had my camera out the whole time taking pictures of Kylie while Mike had the video camera, filming the whole thing. We couldn't help but laugh at ourselves when we realized how silly we must've looked following around this one-year-old while she patted every pumpkin in the patch. It was such a fun time!

The look one her face when she saw all of the pumpkins in the pumpkin store that needed patting... priceless

Baby Blue Eyes

October 15, 2009

A couple days ago we were outside planting a tree in the front yard so I decided to grab my camera and get some pictures of this momentous occasion. I ended up taking not a single picture of the tree... woops... But I got plenty of our pretty girl. She absolutely loves being outside!

Yep, that's a big 'ol bruise on her noggin. Poor thing took her first big spill on the asphalt last week. Luckily some cuddles and kisses made it feel all better!

Look at all that hair blowing in the wind!

Chillaxin' with Daddy

October 12, 2009

It was just another Saturday, hanging out at the Kirby home...

We got this little bean bag chair for Kylie and, no joke, this is how she sits in it every time! Who taught this kid to be so darn cute?!?

Loving her new chair.

Kylie is turning into quite the Daddy's girl lately. Whenever he leaves the room, this is the face we see. "Where did Daddy go?"

"Oh, don't worry Mom, he was just outside... Hi Daddy!"

My two favorite people! They have so much fun together!

Kylie and her handsome Daddy.

Ponytails and Molars

October 8, 2009

It's no secret that our little Kylie is having a hard time in the "growing hair" department. Finally, today, we succeeded in getting her hair into her very first ponytail!!! I distracted her with cartoons and she let me comb her flowing blonde tresses into this spunky little do. It looks a little silly, I know... but I love it!

The third picture is the reason we often call her "Daisy."

Kylie also had her very first molar break through over the last couple days. I'm blown away by how quickly she is getting all of these teeth. Molars? Already? My goodness. Our princess is now up to 9 teeth!
