Little Girl, Big Personality

January 30, 2009

It's fun to watch our little girl's personality shine each day. She already has her own little opinions (like what's funny and what's not). And she loves playing with us and all her fun little toys. Her vocabulary is also growing everyday. She is starting to pronounce her "ba" sounds which is really fun. We love being caught off guard by her new sounds she discovers.

{Sitting on the bed, making silly faces with Daddy while he was trying to study.}

{Such a little sweetie}

{Blowing her raspberries.}

{Our power went out at 3:45 yesterday morning (because of the ice storms) so we all moved out to the living room and had a family camp-out in front of the fireplace for the rest of the night. What a fun memory!}

The other night we were dancing in the kitchen and making dinner. We started doing the Macarena and Kylie loved it! What a silly little girl.

This morning we woke up to this...

January 27, 2009

A crazy ice storm came into Northwest Arkansas last night and is supposed to last until tomorrow and just keep getting worse. We have been iced in all day. Mike even had to stay home from work, Yea! So, of course, since we were stuck inside, we took some pictures! (Honestly, did you expect anything else?)

{Yes, that is a bunch of drool on her sweater... silly girl}

Kylie also spent most of the day blowing raspberries. She has recently discovered that this is a new, and definitely fun way to communicate. It's so cute!

Sunday Dress

January 25, 2009

We came home from church and took some pictures of Kylie in her cute little Sunday dress. Mike propped her up against the back of the couch so she was standing and she got so excited when she realized what was going on.

And then, of course, there's "naked baby playing in the mirror" pictures!

Around We Go!

January 22, 2009

Kylie got a new toy! It's a great exer-saucer from Bright Starts and she just loves it! It has a seat on wheels that moves around an activity base. She's not quite big enough to actually move herself around it, but she loves it when we swing her around to a new toy. Eventually she'll be able to walk around it by herself. Her favorite is playing the piano. She will play a few notes, turn the pages and then look over at me for my approval. It's so cute!

{There are just so many things to play with, I don't know where to start.}

{Daddy, look at my new toy!}

{So much fun!}

{She loves grabbing onto the sides and pulling herself up when she's lying in her bouncer. It's the funniest thing to watch.}

{Sitting up is so much fun!}

{Getting so excited playing the piano- this is from my phone, sorry about the quality}

5 Things we love about our 5 month old...

January 19, 2009

Kylie is 5 months old today! Can you believe it? She is such an amazing baby! The only problem, of course, she's growing up to fast. But with each new day come brand new discoveries and experiences. It's amazing to see the joy she finds in simple things that we take for granted, like sitting up :) Being a parent really makes you think about how wonderful the world around us is, being able to experience it all over again through the eyes of a child.

It was hard to narrow it down, but here are a few things we love about our 5 month old:

  • The way she looks up and smiles at us when we get her out of bed
  • How excited she gets when she sees either one of us walk into the room
  • Her beautiful blue eyes, her big gummy smile, and those chubby bunny, kissable cheeks!
  • How excited she gets when she realizes she is sitting up and then tries to show off for us
  • How she splashes like crazy during bath time
  • The way she sings at the top of her lungs while shes playing with her toys
  • How she tries with all her might to get the remote or our cellphones
  • Her sleepy cuddles when she just melts into us
  • All of the laughs, silliness, and love she brings to our home
okay, so its a couple more than 5, but how could you possible narrow it down to just 5?

Here's a little video of Kylie playing with her bunny this morning. She has the sweetest expressions and was so excited to be playing with bun bun this morning!

Happy Birthday, Kylie!

A Little Baby Update...

January 12, 2009

Kylie is doing great and discovering new things everyday. It's so amazing being able to watch her learn. She is now sitting up almost by herself. She will balance for a few seconds and then usually get distracted and fall over. It's so cute! She is also talking and laughing ALOT more. Her new favorite game is definitely peek-a-boo. She loves it when Mike and I sneak up on her. She has also discovered banging. She loves hitting her toys on everything that will make a noise. Along with teething, sleeping through the night has come to a stand still. It's crazy that she has already started teething at not even 5 months, but her pediatrician said its completely normal. She estimates Kylie will have a tooth poking through within a couple weeks. (She's growing up so fast.)

I'm pretty sure this is about all we do all day... I take pictures and Kylie poses...

{mid-costume-change, playing on the bed}

{I just love this picture}

{She was sitting up... She gets the cutest look on her face when she knows she's going down}

{Such a little cutie}

There's no place like home...

January 8, 2009

We definitely had a great time going home for the holidays and felt all of those warm fuzzies for sure. But it is also nice to finally be home and not living out of suitcases anymore. Since we've been home we have been busy bees cleaning house and getting things back to the way they were. Our Christmas decorations are packed up and put away and our home feels so much bigger and so refreshed and clean. That's always a nice relief. Kylie and Mommy are also happy to be back to our old routine with regular naps and tummy time. Daddy is not as happy to be back to work, but it just makes coming home that much sweeter.

This afternoon, I noticed Kylie was color coordinated with her clothes, blanket and toy, so of course, I had to take some pictures...

*Thanks for my new lens, sweetie! I love it!

Christmas Fun!

January 5, 2009

This year we were world travelers during the Holidays. We had a great time traveling to New Hampshire and California to visit family. Kylie did so great on the plane rides (all 9 of them)! We had so many people stopping us after each ride to tell us how great Kylie was. She made friends with all of the flight attendants and everyone sitting near us. She is such a friendly, smiley girl! [We really enjoyed our Southwest flights; They are a very baby-friendly airline for sure. We were able to pick where we sat and bring the carseat on the plane since it was open seating. United airlines... not-so-baby-friendly. The planes were cramped so we couldn't take our seat and the best part- they broke our stroller and wouldn't take responsibility or pay to fix the damage. So if you are thinking about traveling with baby, I wouldn't recommend United- just my 2 cents... ] Anyway, we had so much fun and took so many pictures on our trip! I will include a bunch of them in this post so beware of a picture overload. (Make sure you click on the picture if you want to see any of them bigger.)

Before we left for the Holidays, Kylie had her 4 month Well-Baby visit at the pediatrician. (We switched to a new doctor and we love her so much! She is so sweet, gentle and playful with Kylie and she takes time with us to answer all of our questions.) Kylie got her second round of vaccinations which she did great with. She let out a little yelp right when she was poked but as soon as Daddy picked her up she stopped right away and gave the nurse a big smile. She's so cute! Here are the stats from the visit:

Age: 4 months 4 days
Weight: 16lbs 2 oz = 93rd percentile
Height: 26 inches = 97th percentile
Head Circumference: 16 3/4 inches = 90th percentile

Now, On to some pictures, since I know that's why most of you are here...
